Violent Robbery of Convenience Store Caught on Camera

ID #17-184

A fist fight at the counter of a Madera mini-mart caught on camera as a store clerk tries to fight off a robbery suspect. Now, detectives need your help. Both law enforcement officers and city leaders say the attack is unacceptable. They’re urging Valley residents to speak up if they know the suspects involved. It happened inside a gas station convenience store at the corner of Madera Avenue and Almond on Monday night at around ten.

Detectives here at the Madera Police Department are working hard to crack the case of what they’re calling a brutal attack on a store clerk. City leaders say it’s time from someone to come forward that has information.

“My first impression was just how crazy it was that they started fighting right away. The clerk, a very brave guy trying to defend the store there trying to keep the guy from getting the money,” said Madera Detective John Rosel.

Detective Rosel says after the fist fight the man and woman captured on store surveillance pulled off a robbery.

“She did stuff some merchandise into her pockets and the suspect did get some money from the register,” said Rosel.

The crime happened near Madera Avenue and Almond on the edge of Madera City Councilman Donald E. Holley’s district.

“I think that’s brutal. Anytime a person goes not only to a store, but a residence and brutalizes someone over something that doesn’t belong to them is something I hope the City of Madera won’t tolerate,” said Holley.

Take another good look at the fight caught on camera and the surveillance pictures of the suspects police say were involved in the strong arm robbery. Councilman Holley believes someone out there can help police make an arrest.

“I hope we start taking an initiative and stop saying I don’t want to be involved. This is involvement when this happens to one of our loved ones or even in our city because I love Madera,” said Holley.

Madera law enforcement and city leaders hope that love for community will support the victims here and put a stop to crimes like this.

“We need more people to stand forward. Even if you have to be told and that you are going to stand up for it and you are not going to put up with this and that let’s the community know we’ve got somebody fighting for them,” said Holley.

If you know the names of these suspects.
