Milpitas Police Arrest Two Alleged Package Thieves

Two suspected package thieves were arrested Wednesday in Milpitas after they were found allegedly carrying two packages stolen from San Jose home, police said.

Officers arrested 27-year-old San Jose man Marcos Cruz and 23-year-old San Jose woman Amanda Matsuo on Canal Street near Newbury Street and McCandless Drive. At 2:27 p.m. officers responded to the area of McCandless Drive and Lee Way after someone called to say there were two people in the area on bicycles who looked suspicious.

Cruz and Matsuo were suspected of looking for packages on the front porches of nearby homes. Officers stopped Cruz and Matsuo as they were riding their bikes on Canal Street.

Police said two warrants were out for Cruz’s arrest and Matsuo was allegedly carrying drug paraphernalia. The two allegedly had two stolen packages with them. Officers booked Cruz into the county jail on the warrants. Matsuo was cited and released for allegedly having drug paraphernalia.
