Police officers arrested a 41-year-old man Monday in connection with a homicide that occurred Thursday in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. After an investigation, officers identified San Francisco resident Abdul Cole as the homicide suspect.
At about 8:30 a.m., officers located him at an apartment building at 710 Ellis St. and arrested him on suspicion of murder, according to police. At about 3:35 p.m. Thursday, officers found the victim, later identified as 61-year-old San Francisco resident Gabriel Ramirez, lying on the sidewalk near Larkin and O’Farrell streets.
Ramirez was suffering from severe head injuries. Medical crews took him to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died a short while later, according to police. Investigators were initially unsure what kind of weapon caused Ramirez’s injuries.
Additionally, investigators have previously said as many as five people may have been involved in the homicide. Police today did not say whether they have determined what type of weapon was used, or if they are seeking additional suspects.
