Body cam footage was released Thursday of a May shootout between a murder suspect and Phoenix police.
Officers were investigating a call of shots fired when suspect Francis Clark began shooting at the two officers, according to KPNX. Police said the initial call stemmed from Clark fatally shooting his girlfriend Mercy Cordova.
The officers were searching the area when Clark opened fire from behind an SUV, injuring both officers.
Police said one officer was hit in his left arm. The other officer, who was hit in the abdomen, was protected by a ballistic vest, the news station reported.
Officers returned fire, fatally shooting Clark.
The officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment and recovered.
