Police in San Mateo on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with the attempted robbery of a bicycle. Isaak Torres Figueroa, 23, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, according to the San Mateo Police Department. Officers responded Tuesday at 11:49 a.m. to a report of a physical fight involving two men in the parking lot of Hassett Ace Hardware at 545 Fist Ave. Police said a suspect, later identified as Figueroa, attempted to steal a bicycle from the victim, and a struggle ensued.

Figueroa fled the scene, but a witness directed officers to a “suspicious man” hiding in a vehicle, and Figueroa was taken into custody without incident, police said. The victim suffered minor injuries in the attempted robbery. A woman, identified as Adriana Melchorleon, 25, was contacted with Figueroa and was arrested on drug related warrants and on suspicion of possession of stolen property and forgery, police said. Police said it does not appear she was involved in the attempted robbery.
