Robber Wearing Santa Claus Mask Caught on Camera, Police Release Video

ID #16-699

Police are searching for a man who passed out candy canes and then robbed a bank wearing a Santa Claus mask Wednesday.

Two surveillance videos were posted to the Memphis Police Department Facebook page Thursday morning depicting the incident. According to the post, a man wearing a Santa mask walked into the Memphis City Employee Credit Union on Elvis Presley Boulevard around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

In the video, the man is seen handing out candy canes to people in the bank. The suspect wished customers a merry Christmas then handed the bank teller a note demanding money from the cash drawer, the post said.

The teller gave him money and he left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, walking east on Raines Road, according the post. The second video shows the suspect exit the bank and put the mask into a bag, but his face is not shown.
