A 28-year-old man convicted of molesting a 6-year-old girl over a period of nine months starting in 2013 was sentenced to 30-years-to-life in state prison today, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
On June 17, a jury found Melfido Otto Valdez-Orozco guilty of five counts related to the molestations, including three counts of felony sex acts with a child. Prosecutors told the jury that Valdez-Orozco was staying with the girl’s family for nine months starting in April 2013 and it was then that he molested her.
The girl’s mother noticed that she was acting strangely and complaining of genital pain. When she asked her daughter what was wrong, the girl told her about the molestation, according to prosecutors.
