The Shreveport Police Department and the United States Marshals Service are currently seeking Rodney Smith on a warrant charging him with viciously attacking three people with a hammer.
According to detectives, the victims had just returned to a home when they realized it had been broken into. As they tried to leave, police say 37-year-old Rodney Smith jumped out of hiding and attacked the victims with a hammer.
During the attack, one of the victims was able to pin the hammer to the ground, but police say Smith picked up a brick and began striking the victim again.
Smith reportedly fled the scene in one of the victim’s vehicle which was later recovered in Monroe, Louisiana.
Police say Smith has family ties to the Lake Providence, Louisiana; Forney, Texas; and Oak Grove, Louisiana areas and is to be considered armed and dangerous.
