Two Lewisburg Police Officers Shot on Traffic Stop

Two officers from the Lewisburg Police Department in West Virginia were shot while conducting a traffic stop on an SUV with a stolen plate from North Carolina. (story continues below video)

Beckley, Bluefield

During the traffic stop, a red Chevrolet truck pulled over as well.

As the officers were conducting the traffic stop, state troopers say the driver of the red truck pulled a handgun and shot at both officers.

Both officers were wounded.

One of the officers was able to return fire, hitting the shooting suspect in the leg. A 3rd suspect may be at-large.

The bodies of the husband and wife owners of the SUV were found inside under a mattress. The murder victim’s home was also set on fire.
