San Jose police are seeking information about a man in the suspected attempted sexual assault of a woman Monday as she walked on a residential street near Alum Rock Avenue in East San Jose, police said.

On Monday, the woman was walking in the area of South 33rd and East San Fernando streets south of Alum Rock Avenue where the suspect drove up to her in his vehicle, police spokesman Sgt. Heather Randol said.

He tried to persuade her to enter the vehicle and when she refused, he exited the vehicle and physically assaulted her, Randol said.

The victim was able to escape and flee on foot and by the time police arrived, the suspect had left the scene, according to Randol.

The suspect is described as Hispanic man, 20 to 25 years old, tall and thin with a thin moustache and wearing a striped sweater and dark jeans, police said.

The suspect’s vehicle was a white-colored sedan with a silver grill, according to police.
