Police on Thursday arrested a woman suspected of stealing a package from a residential neighborhood earlier this month in Menlo Park. Police said Tara McKenzie, 36, of Detroit, was arrested on suspicion of mail theft. Police said the theft occurred on Dec. 12 in the Willow’s neighborhood. On, Thursday, police responded to a call of several solicitors selling magazine subscriptions in the area of Bay Road and Windermere Avenue.

Police said officers, using security footage from the theft, neighborhood tips and information from one of the magazine solicitors, were able to identify the theft suspect as McKenzie. Police said another one of the solicitors, identified as Deandre Knowles, 31, of Chicago, had two $26,000 arrest warrants out of Los Angeles and Glendale for conducting business activity/soliciting without a permit. He was arrested on the outstanding warrants. Both McKenzie and Knowles were booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
