Police have identified a man who was found dead at a residence in Sausalito on Thursday afternoon as 57-year-old David Richard Morgan. Police arrested Conrad Smith, 51, of Sausalito, in connection with the homicide. Police responded at 12:30 p.m. Thursday to 601 Nevada St., where Smith, a renter, had an argument with Morgan, police Lt. Kurtis Skoog said.

Morgan, a Sausalito resident, had suffered head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith refused to come out of a garage on the property, appeared mentally unstable and told police he wanted to die by “suicide by cop,” Skoog said. A hostage negotiating team convinced Smith to surrender and he was booked into Marin County Jail under no bail on suspicion of murder.
