Police are investigating a Sunday stabbing in Watsonville that left a man in critical condition.
Watsonville police responded at 3:21 p.m. to the area of 150 West Lake Ave. to a report of a burglary, and while in route, learned there was a possible stabbing victim.
Police said officers arrived at the scene to find a 54-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso.
The victim wasn’t able to provide police with information on his attacker, and he was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center.
Police said the victim suffered injuries that were life threatening, and he remained in critical condition Sunday night.
Police said the stabbing occurred during an altercation between the victim and an unknown person or persons.
Police conducted an extensive search for the suspect or suspects, witnesses and evidence, but officers found few results other than a blood trail leading to where the stabbing occurred.
