Police in Petaluma are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who robbed a gas station of cigarettes Saturday evening. Around 7 p.m., a man entered a Shell gas station at 900 Petaluma Boulevard North, where he asked the clerk for a carton of cigarettes, police said. The clerk complied with the request and after placing the cigarettes on the counter, the man took them and ran out, according to police.
The clerk chased the suspect who entered a waiting dark-colored sports utility vehicle that drove away, police said. Police have released a photo captured from the gas station’s video surveillance system.
