Six people were shot and wounded outside a popular music venue in San Francisco’s Mission District early this morning moments after a hip-hop concert ended, police said. San Francisco police Officer Grace Gatpandan said that officers responded to Mission and 13th streets at 12:46 a.m. following reports of a shooting outside the Brick and Mortar Music Hall located at 1710 Mission St. Four victims were found at the scene.
Two of the victims were initially suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to San Francisco police Sgt. Monica MacDonald. After the four victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital, an additional victim walked into the hospital and a sixth victim was driven to a hospital in the East Bay, MacDonald said.
Gatpandan said all six victims are in stable condition and all but one victim had been released from the hospital as of this afternoon. Police said the suspect or suspects used a handgun in the shooting and the motive for the shooting has not been determined. San Francisco police said that four of the victims are men in their 20s and one is a 21-year-old woman.
The sixth victim was a male, but police did not immediately release his age and injuries. One victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm while another suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Two victims suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and the fifth victim suffered a gunshot wounds to both legs, police said.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of police officers and police have not said whether it is related if the shooter or shooters attended the hip-hop show Tuesday evening.
According to the Brick and Mortar Music Hall’s website, Tuesday’s 18 and older concert featured San Francisco musicians G-Val and Show Banga. The show also featured Aka Frank and Yo Marlow, plus six other musicians, many from the Bay Area. Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses and hope to release a suspect description soon, Gatpandan said.
