A 27-year-old man was sent to the hospital after he was involved in a shooting with an officer in Seaside on Saturday evening, a police commander said. Officers responded to a call of service in the 1600 block of Laguna Street around 5:20 p.m., police Cmdr. J. Stradan said. Police responded to the home and an officer was involved in a shooting with a 27-year-old man, Stradan said. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to Stradan.

No officers were injured in the incident and no further details were released. Police and the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office will conduct separate investigations into the shooting, he said. The officer has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in an officer-involved shooting, and his name has not been released, according to Stradan.
