An 84-year-old woman was run over outside of a Walgreens pharmacy drive-up window in San Mateo on Friday afternoon and died at a hospital a day later, police said today.

Nina Falk, a San Mateo resident, was struck at about 2:45 p.m. Friday outside of the Walgreens at 191 E. Third Ave., according to police.

Falk was taken to a hospital with life-threatening head injuries and died on Saturday evening, police said.

Police allege that Sonia Toor, 21, of San Mateo, was driving a green Nissan minivan and was in line to use the drive-up window, then changed her mind and backed away quickly from the line, striking Falk and driving over her completely.

Officers arrived and determined that Toor was allegedly under the influence of marijuana and possibly other drugs. They took her into custody on suspicion of felony DUI and she was later booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after Falk’s death, police said.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding any witnesses to the incident who have not yet come forward.
