Nashville Police Press Release

September 30, 2014

Midtown Hills Precinct detectives have identified Aaron Dale Dodson as one of two men responsible for the September 21st murder of Ricky Burgett Jr. inside Burgett’s 420 Welshwood Drive apartment. An arrest warrant charging Dodson, 22, with criminal homicide has been issued.

Burgett, 27, arrived home at 2:15 p.m. on the 21st, briefly spoke to his roommate and went into the bathroom. Shortly thereafter, two intruders entered and began demanding money from the roommate. Burgett was confronted in the bathroom and was fatally wounded. The two intruders then fled the apartment. Burgett was transported by private vehicle to Southern Hills Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigation by Detective Charles Taylor and his colleagues led to the development of Dodson as one of the murder suspects. Efforts to locate him over the past 24 hours have been unsuccessful.

At the time of the murder, Dodson was free on bond on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary stemming from a January arrest.

In that case, Dodson is alleged to have confronted a woman at gunpoint on the front porch of her Oak Court home before ordering her inside, robbing her and burglarizing the residence.
