Three men were arrested on Sunday after attempting to rob an Antioch McDonald’s at gunpoint and fleeing police, a police lieutenant said Monday.
Officers responded around 8:05 a.m. Sunday to reports of an attempted robbery at the McDonalds at 2424 Mahogany Way, but the suspects had already fled the scene, Antioch police Lt. Tony Morefield said.
Morefield said officers spotted the suspects’ car a short distance away from the McDonald’s and followed the vehicle.
One of the three suspects exited the car and ran but was apprehended a short time later, while the other two were stopped in the car and taken into custody.
Morefield said one of the suspects, identified as 19-year-old Antioch resident Daijion Jackson, allegedly attacked a police K9 before being apprehended.
Jackson and the two other suspects, identified as 20-year-old Quashawn Brooks of Antioch and 25-year-old Dejon Barlow of Pittsburg, were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery.
Jackson was also arrested for alleged assault on a police dog. The animal was not seriously injured, Morefield said.
He said one of the suspects was found with a loaded handgun.
All three were taken to county jail in Martinez.
