An 18-year-old man who was shot and killed in San Francisco’s Western Addition neighborhood Saturday morning has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as Iry Bivins. Bivins was located at about 9 a.m. Saturday at Pearl Market on Divisadero Street between Ellis and Eddy streets after reports of multiple gunshots fired, according to San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy.
An employee at Pearl Market said he was working the Saturday morning shift when he heard gunshots fired. Immediately after hearing the shots fired, Bivins entered the market bleeding and the employee said he immediately called police. Officers arrived at the market to find Bivins suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his torso.
He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries a short time later, police said. The suspect in the homicide remains at large and police have not released any suspect information. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
