San Leandro police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect believed to be involved in two house burglaries on Tuesday, police said.
Officers responded around noon on Tuesday to two homes backed up to each other in the 15000 blocks of Crosby and Endicott streets.
The resident of the Endicott Street home told police she heard a noise coming from the rear yard and noticed her rear window screen had been cut with a knife, police said.
She didn’t see anybody at the window and police said responding officers also didn’t find any suspects.
While interviewing neighbors, officers spoke to the Crosby Street resident and were able to determine the home had been burglarized a few hours earlier. Police said the resident was missing small, concealable items like jewelry and that investigators believe the two incidents are related.
Other neighbors reported seeing a suspicious man in the neighborhood and police said they would like to identify and interview him. He is described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old who is approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build and short, black hair.
