A man and woman robbed a jewelry store at Stanford Shopping Center at gunpoint this afternoon, escaping with several high-end wristwatches. No one was injured and the suspects are at large. On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at about 4:27 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call from employees at Gleim the Jeweler at the Stanford Shopping Center at 180 El Camino Real reporting their store had just been robbed at gunpoint. Officers responded immediately, but could not locate the suspects.

The investigation revealed that the female suspect had entered the store and asked an employee to show her some wristwatches. Once the employee opened the case and handed a watch to the woman, the male suspect entered the store with a handgun. He ordered the three employees to the ground. The female produced a handgun of her own. There were no other customers in the store at the time of the robbery. The female suspect then went behind the counter and emptied approximately 25 high-end wristwatches into her purse. The two suspects then fled on foot out the front door and were not seen again.

None of the employees were injured. The exact dollar loss during the robbery is undetermined at this time. The robbery was captured on the store’s video surveillance system, and a still image of the male suspect is attached to this release. We should have a still image of the female suspect, and possibly video footage as well, available for release no earlier than noon on Thursday, October 23.

The armed suspect is a black male adult, between 35 and 40 years of age, with a medium build and a beard. He was wearing a navy-colored long-sleeved jumpsuit, similar to what a mechanic might wear. He had a white elastic dust mask worn around his neck, and a white ACE hardware cap with a red brim.

The other suspect is a black female adult, about 30 years old, with a thin build and shoulder-length wavy hair that the employees believed to be a wig. She was wearing a United States Postal Service vest over a white t-shirt, and dark pants. She carried an over-sized purse with a flower design. Both suspects had black semi-automatic handguns.
