New Orleans police are looking for four people they say were caught on camera beating and robbing a man in the French Quarter. (story continued below video)
According to police, the victim was walking in the 800 block of St. Louis Street around 4:30 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 12) when a male suspect pushed him up against a wall.
The victim attempted to flee, police said, but he was grabbed and slammed to the ground by multiple people who proceeded to kick and punch him repeatedly.
The video shows the attack carried out in plain view of two women, who do nothing to intervene.
The attackers took the victim’s wallet, phone and Cartier watch, police said. The victim told police that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun at the time.
The attack was one of five reported robberies throughout the city that weekend, and comes as the city and business leaders butt heads over Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s plans for unarmed citizen patrols in the French Quarter.
