A Watsonville man was arrested after a traffic stop in Morgan Hill Sunday for possessing a firearm and burglary tools, according to police. Carlos Souza, 41, was in a vehicle with three passengers that was pulled over on Monterey Road and First Street, police said. The officer conducting the traffic stop said the odor of alcohol and marijuana was permeating from the vehicle, and all of the passengers appeared extremely nervous as they evaded questions.
A loaded nine-millimeter Beretta hand gun was eventually found wrapped in a pair of pajama pants along with burglary tools in the back seat of the vehicle, police said. Souza told the officer the firearm and burglary tools were his, leading to his arrest and booking at the Santa Clara County Jail.
