Police confiscated 277 marijuana plants and nearly $70,000 in cash during the bust of a marijuana grow house and butane honey oil extraction lab in a Fremont home last month.

On Sept. 2, Fremont police arrested Scott O’Neill, 25, on suspicion of domestic violence and false imprisonment, police said. Police learned that O’Neill allegedly had a shotgun in his home in the 4500 block of Wheeler Drive and obtained a search warrant to search the home for the weapon, according to police.

While carrying out the search warrant on Sept. 4, police discovered an indoor marijuana grow operation and a butane honey oil extraction lab, according to Fremont police. Butane honey oil is a potent form of hash oil. Police obtained a second search warrant for drug operation and called in agents from the Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force to assist with the search.

Police recovered 277 marijuana plants, two canisters of suspected butane honey oil, 15 grams of butane honey oil, 148 grams of processed marijuana, 0.9 grams of suspected cocaine, a 12-gauge pump action shotgun, an expired marijuana growers permit and paraphernalia for drug manufacturing and processing, police said. Police also discovered an electrical line to the residence that had allegedly been illegally bypassed.

Police also found $69,900 in cash bundled in two-gallon zip-close plastic bags in a crawl space, which they seized, police said. Police seized a 2002 Fineline Ski Centurion boat located at the residence under California’s asset forfeiture law.

O’Neill was booked into the Fremont Jail on suspicion of manufacturing and possession of a controlled substance, cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of concentrated marijuana and theft of utilities.
