The combined efforts of Petaluma police, the news media and the public resulted in the return of stolen property on Friday. According to the police department, a parcel was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 100 block of F Street on Aug. 28 of this year. The victim handed police video of the incident, and police turned the video over to local media for broadcast. Several citizens then contacted police with information on a suspect.
Police followed these leads and questioned a suspect, who then gave officers the location of the stolen property. The property was returned to its rightful owner on Friday, Oct. 3, police officials said. This case has been referred to the Sonoma County District Attorney. Details about the suspect’s identity are not being released until charges have been filed, police officials said.
