Man Shot, Another Beaten During Robbery in El Cerrito

El Cerrito police this morning are investigating a Thursday robbery and shooting. Police said officers responded around 8:10 p.m. to the area of Key Boulevard and Humboldt Avenue in reference to a report of a gunshot heard. Responding officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg at the Grocery Outlet at 12010 San Pablo Ave., according to the El Cerrito Police Department.

Police also located a second victim who said he had been beaten and robbed. Police said the victims, who did not know each other, were walking from the BART path near the Baxter Creek area when two men robbed them. Police said one of the victims started fighting with the two suspects and was shot in the leg, and the other was beaten. The shooting victim was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspects were described as men about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and with medium builds. At least one of the men was armed with a gun. Both suspects fled in a medium-sized dark vehicle.
