The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department wants your help in identifying and locating a man who has robbed more than a dozen banks across San Diego County since November 2013.
The bank robber has been nicknamed the “El Chapparito Bandit” because of his short stature.
Take a good look at the sketch and surveillance photos included in this post to get an idea of what the “El Chapparito Bandit” looks like. He usually wears a Cleveland Indians baseball hat and has his face covered up. But in the some of the surveillance photos, you can see his face.
Since November 2013, the “El Chapparito Bandit” has been connected to 15 bank robberies. The latest one happened on September 13, 2014.
One of these bank robberies took place within the jurisdiction of the Sheriff’s Department. It happened on January 3rd, 2014 at the Chase Bank in the 4500 block of Bonita Road in Bonita.
The “El Chapparito Bandit” usually walks into the bank and yells at everyone to get their hands up or get down on the ground. He then walks up to a bank teller and demands an unknown amount of money. The entire time, he uses hang gestures to simulate he is holding a weapon.
