aSanta Rosa police have arrested two suspects in the armed robbery of a Rite-Aid store on Monday. James Kamau, 18, of Santa Rosa was arrested at his home Wednesday, and Rodrigo Solorio Chavez, 18, of Santa Rosa, was arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday during a traffic stop on Santa Rosa Avenue, police Sgt. David Linscomb said. Two men entered the store at 1793 Marlow Road in Santa Rosa around 9:15 a.m. Monday.
One of the suspects ordered a pharmacy clerk at gunpoint to lie down on the floor, and the other suspect jumped over the counter and grabbed prescription drugs on a shelf, Linscomb said. Witnesses said the suspects fled to the creek behind the store in a residential area, but they were not found during an extensive search, Linscomb said. Kamau is believed to be the suspect who used a gun in the robbery, and police found evidence linking Kamau and Chavez to the robbery, Linscomb said. Kamau and Chavez were booked in the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping with intent to commit robbery and a gang enhancement, Linscomb said.
They are being held under no bail. Kamau is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Sonoma County Superior Court and Chavez is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday afternoon.
