A Castro Valley man was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of identity theft in Oregon after allegedly scamming his way into buying an expensive car and furniture, local sheriff’s officials said Tuesday. Blake Walker, 29, was arrested at a Comfort Inn in Medford, Oregon, on Sept. 3 after allegedly fraudulently purchasing a $109,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicle from a local dealership, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office officials said. Walker also allegedly purchased $2,500 in furniture via fraudulent means.
At the hotel room where he was arrested, investigators found keys and paperwork for a new 2015 Ford Explorer that was reported stolen out of Modesto, sheriff’s officials said. The Explorer was eventually found on Monday in a parking lot at a dealership in Medford, according to the sheriff’s office. Walker has been extradited back to California to face numerous charges and warrants and will return to Jackson County after those cases are resolved, sheriff’s officials said.
