A San Francisco man has been arrested in connection with a Wednesday armed robbery in San Mateo. Tajri Turner, 23, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of robbery and kidnapping, according to the San Mateo Police Department. Police said Turner around 11:10 a.m. entered a business in the 1700 block of Gum Street, pulled a handgun and demanded merchandise.
Police said Turner then grabbed a store employee and forced the employee into a rear storage room, where Turner stole several brand new cell phones before fleeing the store. Police located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle in the area of 25th Avenue and Palm Avenue and watched the vehicle until a man matching the suspect’s description, later identified as Turner, walked to it. Turner was taken into custody, and police located the stolen merchandise inside his vehicle, police said.
