San Bernardino Police Officer Gabriel Garcia Shot, His Trainee Kills the Suspect

San Bernardino, California Police Officer Gabriel Garcia was shot multiple times and is fighting for his life in a hospital and the suspect, Alex Alvarado was killed by Officer Garcia’s Trainee partner only 2 months out of the police academy. (Continued below video newscast)

The officers were approaching a group of suspicious men about 2 am when Alvarado open fire on the officers with an AK-47 assault type rifle, striking Officer Garcia at least once in the head. The trainee engaged Alvarado in what was described as a protracted gun battle ending with Alvarado being killed.

Police say, a revolver and an AK-47 assault rifle were recovered at the scene and at least 65 shell casings were found at the scene.

Five people were arrested in connection with the shootout.
