Officers arrested a man suspected of burglarizing and prowling in Petaluma on Tuesday, according to the Petaluma Police Department. The suspect, identified as Joseph Alan Waters, 37, of Fairfield, was found around 12:16 a.m. in the backyard of a property in the 3000 block of Cypress Drive, police said.

Officers heard Waters rustling in bushes behind the residence that had set off the burglary alarm and found him in possession of burglary tools, according to police. Waters also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Solano County, police said. Waters was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, prowling, and for his outstanding warrants.
