A Morgan Hill man wanted on multiple warrants was captured Thursday after jumping off his bicycle and hiding from police in the bushes of the front yard of a residence, police said. Arturo Arias, 36, was arrested on a number of no-bail warrants for his arrest, resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools, Morgan Hill police reported. At 12:11 p.m. Thursday, a Morgan Hill police officer turned on his lights and siren to pull over the rider of a bicycle for traffic violations on Wright Avenue west of Monterey Road, according to officers.
The person on the bicycle then leaped off it and started running away, police said. Other officers arrived to set up a perimeter to prevent the suspect from escaping and soon located him behind some brush in the front yard of a home on Del Monte Avenue near El Toro Court, according to police. Arias was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, officers reported.
