Police and sheriff’s deputies arrested 12 people on a variety of offenses during a SWAT team operation in Antioch on Wednesday night, Antioch police Chief Allan Cantando said today. The SWAT team detail happened in the area of Sycamore Drive, where multiple shootings and other violent crimes have been reported in recent months, according to police.
During the operation, officers arrested 12 people for outstanding warrants, possession of controlled substances, gun possession and resisting arrest, according to a statement from the chief posted on the Antioch Police Department’s Facebook page today.
With help from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Justice Team, or J-Team, police also made 105 traffic stops, 48 pedestrian stops, a dozen stops of “suspicious vehicles” and a probation search, Cantando said.
