Daniel Hsiao arrested he allegedly stabbed to death Ian Leighton in San Jose

San Jose police have identified a 22-year-old man who was the son of a man he allegedly stabbed to death Saturday evening, a police spokeswoman said. Daniel Hsiao

allegedly stabbed Ian Leighton in the 6600 block of Charter Oak Place around 6 p.m., Sgt. Heather Randol said. Leighton suffered at least one stab wound and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Randol said.

Hsiao is also suspected of stabbing a woman who suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. He was found near the scene Saturday evening and taken into custody, Randol said. The homicide is the city’s 24th this year. Hsiao is being held in Santa Clara County Jail without bail, according to jail records.
