Police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the Thursday armed robbery of a Hayward pharmacy.

Antone Ray Wiggins, of Hayward, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, according to the Hayward Police Department.

Police responded around 9:50 a.m. to a report of an armed robbery at a pharmacy in the 27000 block of Hesperian Boulevard.

Police said the suspect, later identified as Wiggins, entered the business as it opened, pulled a semi-automatic handgun and demanded prescription drugs.

Police said the victim handed over several bottles of liquid and pill prescription drugs, and the suspect left the business.

The victim was able to provide police with a description of the suspect’s vehicle, and investigators later located the vehicle at a residence in the 25000 block of Gettysburg Avenue.

Police said Wiggins, who was at the residence, matched the description of the robbery suspect given by the victim.

He was taken into custody, and police said they later found the stolen prescription drugs and a gun inside the residence.
