This is the shocking moment a man was caught on camera swinging a DOG around his head by its leash.

The footage filmed in Stevenage, UK shows the man walking along a street with what is thought to be a chihuahua on a lead.

The man is then seen to pick the dog up by its lead, and swing the animal around his head.

He then repeats the move three more times. WARNING VIDEO IS DISTURBING

None of the three men he’s with appear to try and intervene.

Police are now investigating the incident which they say happened after the men had been allowed to take the dog for a walk by the pet’s owner, who only became aware of the video when it was posted on Facebook.

The dog has now been returned to her, and is uninjured, but police say they want to identify the people in the video as a “matter of urgency”.

PC Lindsey Cox from the Stevenage Safer Neighbourhood Team is investigating and said: “No animal deserves to be treated in this way and we are taking this matter extremely seriously. This is being treated at this stage as an incident of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

“We appreciate the images are not of the best quality but I am sure someone will know who these people are and I would urge you to contact me straight away. We can see there were a number of people driving and at least one other pedestrian in the area at the time, if you saw what happened please also contact me.”
