Parolee Arrested in Assault That Killed a Woman, Injured Her 5-Year-Old-Boy

A 43-year-old parolee was booked on suspicion of murdering a woman in a violent attack this morning in Vallejo and slitting the throat of the victim’s 5-year-old boy, a police spokesman said. At 1:52 a.m. today, the Vallejo Police Department received a call about an assault inside a residence in the 2000 block of Marin Street west of Sonoma Boulevard, according to police Capt. James O’Connell.

When officers arrived, they found a 5-year-old boy and his 40-year-old mother injured from an apparent violent attack. The boy was taken to the trauma center of a Bay Area hospital where he is expected to survive, O’Connell said. His mother was transported from the scene for emergency treatment but she died on the way to a hospital, he said.

Police officers and detectives obtained information about a suspect in the assault and broadcast the information to officers in the field. At 8:41 a.m., a Vallejo police officer saw the suspect on a street in East Vallejo and took him into custody.

Daryl Wakefield, of Vallejo, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, O’Connell said. Officers confirmed that Wakefield knew the female victim. Wakefield is on parole for a burglary conviction and has a violent criminal history, according to O’Connell said. The identify of the woman is being withheld until family members are notified.

  • Why are the laws not being made stiffer for all these criminals.Bring back old school. chain them and other devices if they are a flee risk or safety risk. All Prisoners should be treaated as prisoners. The United States has gotten soft. All prisoners on death row.Who are proven guilty where there really is proof. Not the ones that might be innocent. They should be put to death already.Bring back old school if need be.How about hung until dead. That did use to be a sentence.Maybe if more CRIMINALS had to really pay for there crimes therewould be less crime.People would be safer.People are not safe anywhere anymore.I worry everytime i have to walk anywhere.Last time a truck driver tried to get me to get in his truck.Actually drove off turned around came back through the traffic lights and tried to block me so i could not cross the street due to traffic and i had to run past the side of his truck.Police in Cameronpark CA.Told me did he try to grab you or get out of the truck. No crime asking if i need a ride.He was not asking bhe was trying to make get in his back seat with hand and arm gestures.I think the only reason he did not get out wasi was on the phone with the police. This kind of stuff has happened to me on and off my whole life.A big rig truck chased me down once.A friend driving by saved me.Something needs to be done to deter all these criminals from being criminals.Sincerely Never safe
