Carina Lisbet Sandoval sentenced to five years in prison for repeated drunk driving

A woman pleaded no contest Tuesday to repeated drunk driving offenses and was sentenced to five years in prison, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. Carina Lisbet Sandoval, 27, of East Palo Alto, pleaded no contest to felony drunk driving causing injury with three prior drunk driving convictions and child endangerment, prosecutors said.

On Oct. 19, a citizen notified police about Sandoval’s erratic driving while riding on two flat tires near Main Street and Middlefield Road in Redwood City. Police detained Sandoval, who had open cans of beer in her car and a blood-alcohol level of .24 percent, prosecutors said. In a separate incident on Jan. 7, Sandoval made a dangerous left turn with her 16-month-old son and boyfriend in the car, resulting in a collision and serious injuries to her boyfriend.

She had a blood alcohol level of .22 percent, according to the district attorney’s office. Sandoval was sentenced to five years in state prison with 376 days credit for time served. She as also ordered to pay $300 in restitution and various court fees.
