One woman is in jail and another is recovering after a stabbing in Antioch on Sunday, police said today. The stabbing was reported at 10:43 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Cavallo Road and East 18th Street, according to police.
Police said officers arriving on the scene found a 21-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. The injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening. The woman was treated at a hospital and later released, Antioch police Sgt. Tony Morefield said. Officers quickly detained a suspect, identified as 30-year-old Dominica Wellridge of Antioch, Morefield said.
Wellridge was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to county jail in Martinez, where she remained today. Morefield said police are continuing to investigate the case and have not determined a motive for the attack.
