Seattle police are hoping you can help identify this heartless thief.
Watch the video below to see him pull a Seattle store owner right out of his wheelchair — just so he could steal some clothes.
Watch Video Below
It all started with the suspect heading into the store on Renton Avenue S. in Rainier Valley on May 21st. He heads to where the clothes are and starts looking through some jeans and sweatshirts.
A store worker comes over and helps him for a while, then the two head to the register where detectives say the clerk went on high alert. “The victim has a premonition like something’s wrong, and he thinks the suspect’s going to run with these items, so he puts his hands on the actual clothing items and it’s then when the suspect grabs the items and starts to take off,” says Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound.
“The victim follows him to the front of the store, and what you don’t see at this point is a struggle that ensues, and a fight breaks out.
During the fight, the victim is able to retain the clothing and tells the suspect, ‘Don’t ever come back here again.’ Just a few minutes later the suspect reappears at the store. This time he brazenly walks into the store, disregards the previous order of staying out, and he proceeds to shoplift a few more items.
He’s grabbing them and he starts to walk towards the front of the store again. This time a second victim who is seated in a wheelchair approaches him and says, ‘May I help you?’
A struggle ensues and the suspect actually grabs the victim who is seated in a wheelchair and drags him out of the wheelchair, throwing him to the floor. The victim starts crawling towards the suspect, trying to grab the items.
At this point, the clerk who ordered him from the store comes around with a stick in his hands and starts chasing the suspect, who ends up getting away.”
The suspect was wearing a black jacket, black shorts, and a black t-shirt with the letters “VLLNS” in white.
