Police have identified a man who was stabbed to death allegedly by his girlfriend in an alcohol-fueled fight in their Point Richmond apartment early Tuesday morning.
Patrick McHenry, 36, died after his live-in girlfriend, 37-year-old Elaine Ashes, allegedly stabbed him during a domestic violence incident at their home in the 500 block of Tewksbury Avenue, Richmond police spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.
Ashes called 911 around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and emergency responders arrived to find McHenry unresponsive, then discovered a stab wound to his abdomen, Abetkov said.
Medical personnel performed CPR on the victim but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Officers arrested Ashes on suspicion of murder and are continuing to question her today on the killing.
Abetkov said McHenry, who is originally from the Lake Tahoe area, and Ashes, who lists Sausalito as her hometown on her Facebook page, had been together for about a year.
The sergeant said she didn’t know whether police had responded to previous domestic violence incidents involving the pair.
