14-Year-Old Boy Arrested for Allegedly Shooting 11-Year-Old Boy in Antioch

The suspected shooter of an 11-year-old boy in Antioch Thursday was arrested that night and identified as a 14-year-old boy, police said today. The shooting was reported in the 800 block of I Street at about 11:15 a.m., according to police. The 11-year-old was found shot in the chest by officers and airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

He remains in stable condition at the hospital today and is expected to survive, police said. At about 10:45 p.m. police arrested the 14-year-old on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm, police said. He was booked at the Antioch Police Department and transferred to Juvenile Hall.

His name has not been released. Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call Antioch police at (925) 778-2441.
