A man was arrested in a Petaluma bar early Saturday morning after he allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened one of the bar’s patrons, police said. According to Petaluma police, officers responded to a call at about 12:30 a.m. at Maguire’s Pub, located at 145 Kentucky St., about a man who had taken out a handgun in the bar. When police arrived, they found 24-year-old Curtis Paul of Napa at the end of the bar and attempted to take control of his hands.
Police said Paul resisted arrest and was placed in handcuffs. A loaded .38-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun was located in Paul’s waistband, according to police. The bar’s security video showed Paul taking the firearm out of his pants and showing it to a man he had been arguing with in the bar. Police said the other man walked away from Paul, and Paul placed the handgun back in his waistband.
Officers arrived shortly thereafter and arrested Paul. Paul was taken to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of a possession of a concealed firearm without a permit and brandishing a firearm at another person. Bail was set at $30,000.
