A man who held his waistband as if he had a gun robbed a vitamin store of cash Tuesday afternoon in Salinas, a police commander said.
The suspect entered the Vitamin Store Health Center at 1423 N. Main St. at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday and asked the clerk about vitamins, according to police Cmdr. David Crabill.
The man then demanded money and placed his hand on his waistband as if to show he was armed, but the clerk never did see a firearm, Crabill said.
The clerk handed over an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect ran heading south on North Main Street, according to police.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, wearing a gray knit cap, dark blue pants, a gray long-sleeved shirt and a white T-shirt.
Police are still investigating the robbery, Crabill said.
