A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing someone in a fight in Watsonville on Wednesday night, a police officer said. Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at Carr and East Beach streets around 8:45 p.m., Watsonville police Officer Eddie Santana said. Arriving officers located a 28-year-old Watsonville man suffering from multiple slash wounds to his torso, Santana said.
Police learned the 28-year-old man had been arguing with a suspect and it turned into a physical altercation. The suspect, later identified as Watsonville resident Emmanuel Ramirez, allegedly stabbed the 28-year-old man, according to Santana.
Both men were injured in the fight and the 28-year-old man was airlifted to a trauma center for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Santana said. Ramirez was arrested at the scene and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
