A Palo Alto man was arrested Monday after he allegedly robbed, pushed and threatened a group of teens who had been throwing fireworks off a parking garage roof, police said Wednesday. The teens, all around 14 or 15 years old, contacted police around 4:40 p.m. on Monday to report the incident at City Parking Garage “S,” at 445 Bryant St., according to police. The teens said they had been throwing small noise-maker fireworks off the garage roof when one of them hit a man walking on the sidewalk below, according to police.

The man then apparently took an elevator to the top and confronted the teens. He allegedly shoved a 15-year-old, demanded money from a 14-year-old and threatened to throw them all off the roof of the garage, police said. The teens gave the man money and then, after the suspect left, went directly to police to report the incident, police said. A short time later, police detained Palo Alto resident Daniel Adam Esquivel, 24, on suspicion of felony robbery, felony criminal threats and misdemeanor battery.
