Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in Richmond last year.
The most recent arrest happened on Monday, when 21-year-old Alejandro Dominguez was arrested after being stopped by U.S. Border Patrol agents at the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego, police said.
Last week, officers arrested 19-year-old Gabriel Schroeder in Richmond and Hugo Fuentes, 22, in American Canyon, according to police.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office charged all three last month with murder, conspiracy to commit a crime and enhancements for gang involvement and use of a firearm for the killing of Juan Medrano on May 10, 2013.
Medrano was driving his BMW on Richmond Parkway that afternoon when he was gunned down by suspects in a nearby car, according to police.
He was airlifted to a hospital where he died early the next morning.
Schroeder and Fuentes are being held in county jail in Martinez and are scheduled to appear in court in Richmond on Friday.
Dominguez is still in custody in San Diego and Richmond police are making arrangements to bring him to Contra Costa County, police spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.
