A thief used a garage door opener stolen in Antioch to steal $15,000 in property from a Moraga home on Monday afternoon, according to police.

Moraga police said a resident returned home to the 400 block of Fernwood Drive around 2:50 p.m. to find that someone had broken into their house and left the front door unlocked.

The last resident to leave the house earlier Monday had locked the home’s doors around 11:30 a.m., police said.

Several computers, digital cameras, credit cards and other valuables estimated to be worth $15,000 in total were missing from the house, according to police.

Police said one of the residents’ garage door openers had been stolen in Antioch earlier in the afternoon and it is believed that the suspect used the device to break in.

Officers responding to the burglary report found signs of forced entry in the house’s garage area, police said.
